When it comes to oats, I always was a traditional kind of girl. Meaning: mix together milk and oats, microwave on high for 2 minutes, top with brown sugar and that was that. But recently, I discovered a whole new thing: Overnight Oats. Basically, it’s a perfect mix of creamy yogurt goodness, rolled oats and your favorite fruity toppings. The oats soak in a mixture of milk and yogurt overnight, softening them to perfection by the morning. I literally look forward to breakfast every day. Plus, it’s super practical. Just pull it from the fridge before your workout and enjoy it (on the go). It’s so easy, and honestly, sooo good!
The good thing about oats is they keep me full (of energy) and feeling good. It’s a great way to start your day since the oats are filling and the yogurt is packed with healthy probiotics and lots of calcium. I tested out a few different recipes (here, here & here) and came up with my own go-to recipe that I love.
1/3 cup low-fat milk (or milk of your choice)
2/3 cup organic rolled oats
½ cup Alpro Mild & Creamy Natural (or Alpro natural soy yoghurt)
1 pinch of sliced almonds
The night before, mix together all the ingredients and seal in an airtight container (sealed mason jar or jam container). Refrigerate the mixture overnight (they will be ready in about 3 hours, but overnight is best). Wake up, top it and enjoy! :-)
